Extra Points in NFL Just Got Tougher

A big change for the NFL: The league is moving back extra-point kicks to make them more challenging. The owners today approved the competition committee's proposal to snap the ball from the 15-yard line, instead from the 2. In recent seasons, kickers have made more than 99% of the kicks. If teams opt instead to go for a 2-point conversion, they'll face another challenge. The ball will be snapped from the 2-yard-line, but under new rules adopted today, the defending team can now return a turnover to the other end zone and claim the 2 points. (More NFL stories.)
