It didn't take Columbo: Police investigating a home burglary in Oklahoma were able to follow the grease trail left by a stolen deep fryer straight to a suspect's home, reports WTHR. Cops in Chickasha say two men stole about $4,000 worth of goods from a neighbor, including the telltale deep fryer. The police report explains that “grease spots continued west from the reporting party’s back door and continued across the road to the back yard gate" of suspect Steven McCarthey. He reportedly confessed, apologized, and explained that he was drunk, but McCarthey and alleged accomplice William Bitsche still face burglary charges. (More weird crimes stories.)
