As of EOD on June 11, Louisiana's legislative session will be over—which means Bobby Jindal will have a bit more free time on his hands. We'll apparently find out June 24 if that means the Pelican State's Republican governor will be vying for the nation's top spot. According to Jindal adviser Timmy Teepell, that will be the day Jindal makes a "major announcement" regarding his presidential plans. The announcement is scheduled to take place in New Orleans, reports Politico, which also notes that Jindal's "positioning as an unapologetic cultural conservative" could curry favor in early conservative states like Iowa.

At USA Today, William Cummings thinks it's pretty clear Jindal is running (Cummings points to "Jindal's exploratory committee website—complete with a red, white, and blue logo in the shape of a 'J'"). But it could be a tough slog for the two-term governor, who Cummings notes doesn't boast high popularity ratings at home, "in part because the state's budget surplus has turned into a $1.6 billion deficit." (We already know where Jindal stands on same-sex marriage.)
