Rupert Murdoch may be stepping down as CEO of 21st Century Fox. Murdoch, 84, is expected to pass the role to his son, James, later this year or in early 2016, reports CNBC, citing "numerous sources close to the Murdoch family." James Murdoch, 42, will reportedly work in a "partnership" with brother Lachlan, 43, who is to become an executive co-chairman. Their father is said to be staying on as executive chairman. CNBC quotes a Fox rep as saying succession will be discussed at the next board of directors' meeting, and the site notes an announcement is expected "in the near term." The outlet reports COO Chase Carey will also step down. (More Rupert Murdoch stories.)
