If you happen to have a spare few thousand trillion Zimbabwean dollars lying around the house, now is the time to cash them in. The country is finally killing off the hyperinflated currency it stopped printing in 2009 and is offering $5 US to people with up to 175 quadrillion—175,000,000,000,000,000—Zimbabwean dollars in their bank accounts, with another $1 per 35 quadrillion for people with higher balances, the BBC reports.
Most people, finding it inconvenient to take a wheelbarrow full of cash around with them, abandoned the currency long ago for the US dollar or South African rand, though it has remained in informal use, according to the Independent. (Zimbabwe has some new coins of its own, but even beggars aren't interested.)
