Despite getting off only 16 shots, the Coyotes managed to slip past the Dallas Stars, who had more to lose but weren't playing as hungry as Phoenix. • Chicago's newbie goalie Corey Crawford "played with a lot of poise" against Anaheim, shutting out the Ducks while his team built a 3-0 victory.
  • Patrick Marleau got one goal in regulation and another in overtime to push San Jose past Ottawa, 3-2, trumping Jason Spezza's two-goal night for the Senators.
