At least 30 people were killed when an Indonesian military transport plane smashed into a neighborhood in one of the country's biggest cities today, and that number could go up, officials tell Reuters. The military says at least 12 people were on board the C-130 Hercules, which crashed just minutes after taking off from an air force base outside Medan, where the pilot told the control tower he was suffering engine trouble, reports the AP. The news agency notes that 143 people died in the city a decade ago when a Mandala Airlines Boeing 737 crashed into a residential neighborhood. (More Indonesia stories.)
