Politics | Donald Trump 'Racially Charged' Trump Tweet Targets Wife of Jeb Bush The Donald makes reference to her Mexican heritage By Neal Colgrass Posted Jul 6, 2015 4:00 PM CDT Copied In this Tuesday, June 30, 2015, file photo, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at a house party in Bedford, NH. (AP Photo/Jim Cole, File) Donald Trump lashed out at presidential candidate Jeb Bush today with a tweet that Time is calling "racially charged." Trump posted that "#JebBush has to like the Mexican illegals because of his wife," a tweet that stayed up on the money mogul's account for 24 hours before it was taken down (The Wrap has a screenshot). The tweet followed criticisms from Bush over Trump's characterization of Mexican immigrants as possible rapists and criminals: "He’s doing this to inflame and incite and to draw attention, which seems to be the organizing principle of his campaign," said Bush, who added that the remarks were "not reflective of the Republican Party." For the record, Bush's wife Columba does hail from Mexico. (And Trump says he's surprised by the backlash over his comments.) Read These Next Americans have thoughts on aging.
