The Alaska Dispatch News reports a 20-year-old woman was attacked by a bear near Skilak Lake on the Kenai Peninsula. The mauling reportedly left her with bites and cuts to her head, back, and arm that are not life-threatening, though the captain of Central Emergency Services, which protects 1,000 square miles in the region, says it "sounds like she had some pretty significant injuries and will have a long road ahead of her."
