Police say a 31-year-old Alabama man may have been shot dead by his 2-year-old son, NBC News reports. The boy's mother returned home from work yesterday to find Divine Chambliss lying dead on a bed, according to AL.com. NBC reports Chambliss had been shot in the head. There was no sign of an intruder, and no one else was thought to have been at the apartment at the time of the shooting.

According to a statement, police in Hoover are continuing to investigate, "and detectives are not completely ruling out other possibilities." But at the moment, it appears that the toddler accidentally shot his father. Police are trying to figure out how such a young child could have fired the gun, NBC reports. (More shooting stories.)
