Donald Trump got especially personal in a line of attack against Hillary Clinton last night, going after aide Huma Abedin and her "perv" husband Anthony Weiner. While speaking in Boston about Clinton's email scandal, Trump said Abedin had access to classified information, reports the Hill. “And who is Huma married to? One of the great sleazebags of our time," he said, referring to the sexting scandal that upended Weiner's political career. “Do you think there’s even a 5% chance that she’s not telling Anthony Weiner … what the hell is coming across?” Afterward, Trump defended the attack, reiterating his view to NBC News that Abedin shouldn't have access to sensitive information.
"I don't think she should have been part of the people receiving it, whether it's confidential, why would she be involved?" He added, "I know her husband, I know him very well." A Clinton spokesperson slammed Trump for "patently false, personal attacks towards a staff member." Meanwhile, the Washington Post has a substantive piece on Abedin's complicated role "at the center of the Clinton universe"—when she served as aide to Clinton as secretary of state while simultaneously holding three other jobs. Republican critics say she shouldn't have been serving public and private interests at the same time and want more information about the special arrangements she received to allow that to happen.
