A better ending to a sad story: A Massachusetts husband and wife have gotten back photos of their late son that had been deleted by someone who stole their camera. The Lancaster home of Felicia and David Neeley was ransacked by thieves Aug. 30 when Felicia left for a short time to bring some things to her husband, working a 24-hour shift at the Clinton Fire Department. Among the items stolen was a digital camera with about 200 photographs, including some of the couple's son, who died last October hours after his birth.
Surveillance images released by police resulted in a woman turning herself in, but police say she had already deleted the images. They used special software to recover the photos, and returned them to the Neeleys in an "emotional exchange with handshakes and hugs," says the department on Facebook. "A day like today is the most rewarding part of being a Police Officer." Felicia Neeley, meanwhile, calls the police "awesome." (More uplifting news stories.)
