Burka-wearers of the world apparently have nothing to fear from a Donald Trump presidency. At a rally before a town hall meeting in New Hampshire on Monday, Trump told supporters that "freeing" Muslim women from the burka isn't a good reason to intervene in the Middle East, Mashable reports. "I saw a woman interviewed. They said, 'We want to wear them, we've worn them for a thousand years. Why would anybody tell us not [to]?' They want to!" he said, per CNN. "What the hell are we getting involved for?"
"Fact is, it's easy. You don't have to put on makeup, look how beautiful everyone looks," Trump told the audience, joking that he would wear one himself if he were a woman. Trump also took potshots at Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Ben Carson—calling Carson "even lower-energy" than Bush—but saved his fiercest attack for the media, reports the Boston Globe. "They're scum. They are horrible people," he said, per the Globe, telling the crowd that running for president has taught him "how brilliant the public is and how bad the press is." (At the town hall, Trump boasted about how he had been able to build a business with only a "small loan of $1 million" from his father.)
