Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama took the day off, but their campaigns took time today to exchange fire on issues of disclosure and statements by disgraced staffers. In a conference call with reporters, the Obama campaign called on Clinton to release documents from her years in the Senate and from the Clinton Library, the Chicago Tribune reports.
“What is Sen. Clinton hiding?” asked Obama’s spokesman, while his chief strategist labeled her a “veteran of non-disclosure.” The Clinton camp called the comments a personal attack, and both sides traded barbs over controversial remarks by Obama’s former pastor and Clinton supporter Geraldine Ferraro. Obama’s team also said they wouldn’t oppose seating Michigan and Florida delegates in a fair process. (More Barack Obama stories.)
