This time, Denver found itself on the wrong side of an eye-popping score. Two nights after dropping 168 points on Seattle, the Nuggets tumbled to the Pistons, who had their highest regulation score since a win against Denver eight years ago. Richard Hamilton led seven Pistons in double figures with 24 points in the 136-120 win.

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 27 points. Detroit's 73 first-half points were a season high. The Pistons normally play one of the league's lowest-scoring styles; nonetheless, Tuesday's track meet had its precedents, including the highest-scoring game in NBA history, a triple-overtime 186-184 Detroit win against Denver back when the Pistons were led by Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer.
