Suns Battle Sonics for 6th Straight Success
Los Angeles Clippers' Tim Thomas, left, is double-teamed by Golden State Warriors' Al Harrington, center, and Monta Ellis during an NBA basketball game on Wednesday, March 19, 2008.    (Associated Press)

The Sonics tried desperately to reverse their trend of 12 losses in 13 games, and with the Suns giving up 17 turnovers in the first half alone, that feat seemed possible, the Arizona Republic reports. But Phoenix rallied past their own dreadful defense to shoot 57%, with 15 three-pointers, on the way to a 110-98 victory. In other hoops action:

  • Stephen Jackson scored 29 and Monta Ellis added 28 in Golden State's textbook dismantling of the Clippers, who got 24 points from Al Thornton but not much else in a 116-100 loss.
  • In a game Rudy Gay "thought we should have won," Memphis bled away a 16-point lead as Minnesota rallied for a 98-94 victory.
