Food Fight: 5 Craziest Crimes of the Week

A high school impostor and a garlic-knots issue are among the weirdest crime stories of the week:

• Star Student Turns Out to Be Impostor: Asher Potts, 18, was the "it" guy at Pennsylvania's Harrisburg High School. Among other things, he was a student rep with the school board, member of the ROTC and Naval Sea Cadet program, and runner-up for homecoming king. Plus he had a 4.16 grade point average. Except cops say he wasn't actually a high school student. Or an American.
• Nurse Was Drunk During Emergency Surgery, Cops Say: When 59-year-old nurse Richard Pieri was called to the VA Medical Center near Wilkes-Barre, Penn., to assist with an emergency appendectomy, there was one problem: He had forgotten he was on call and spent the night drinking four or five beers at a local casino. He did go to the hospital, though, and he did assist with the surgery. What clued others in to his condition were the things he did before and during the surgery.

• Woman Told to Stop Smoking Takes Extreme Measures: Beware the woman with a cigarette craving. Police say a passenger on an MTA bus in Manhattan went haywire when she was told to stop smoking. She refused to put out her cigarette or get off the bus, forcing the driver to pull over and wait for police. But as the driver was helping passengers disembark, the woman allegedly went a step further.
• Toddler in Egypt Receives Life Sentence: An Egyptian court has handed down a life sentence that would be longer than most if carried out: The alleged criminal is all of 4 years old, max. The strange case involves little Ahmed Mansour Qorany Sharara, who was one of 116 people found guilty of killing three people and damaging state property during a protest in support of ousted President Mohamed Morsi in 2014. Ahmed would have been 16 months old at the time. After the verdict, the military admitted what went wrong.
• Don't Disrespect This Woman or Her Garlic Knots: That's what employees at a Florida pizzeria learned after dealing with 25-year-old Jessica Conti, who apparently took issue with how the staff prepared her dish. To be more specific, workers say Conti was angry they put cheese on her garlic knots and claimed a worker was disrespectful when giving her back her money when she complained.
