Test your own Good Samaritan ethics against these two: A 61-year-old man near Philly found $15,000 in a leather pouch with no ID—and turned it over to cops. In Oslo, a man outdid him by deciding to donate the $38,000 he found hidden in his new apartment. It was his knowledge of the previous owner that swayed him.
• Tattoo Artist Helps Those With Self-Harming Scars: After helping out a friend, a 22-year-old tattoo artist decided to offer free tattoos to others who have scars from self-harm. The response has been both astonishing and overwhelming, or in her words, "humbling but also heartbreaking."

• 'Dear Strangers,' Your Kindness Saved Me: A woman happened to be in Whole Foods when she received the news that her father had committed suicide. She promptly fell apart, but she's now written an open letter to some fellow shoppers for the compassion they showed her. It's worth a read.
• Puppy Saved in Fire May Help Sniff Out Arsons: Black smoke was filling a burning shed in Charleston, SC, last June when firefighter William Lindler spotted a badly burned puppy within. Less than a year later, that puppy is now the official mascot of the Hanahan Fire Department. And there's plans to give him an especially fitting career.
• Mom Trapped in Fire Drops Baby, Toddler to Safety: A mother trapped by a fire in her Sydney apartment safely dropped her 2-day-old baby and 2-year-old toddler from a second-floor window to rescuers. They're fine, and firefighters were able to rescue mom. A well-placed bed sheet may have played a role in at least one of the saving catches.
