A woman was hospitalized after being hit by a foul ball in the seventh inning of a game between the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, the AP reports. The foul ball got through a small gap between netting behind an area for photographers, hitting the woman seated in the lower box seats next to Tampa Bay's first-base side dugout. Rays designated hitter Steven Souza Jr. was the one who fouled off the ball and went into the stands to check on the woman. He said the ball hit her near the eye. The woman was removed on a stretcher and remained hospitalized in stable condition on Saturday. Stadium workers were on the field Saturday adjusting the netting on both the first and third base sides. (More baseball stories.)
