The five Amtrak corridor states—that would be Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island—voted Tuesday and were on a tight timetable, with all polls closing at 8pm. NBC News and other networks immediately called Maryland for Hillary Clinton; Delaware, Pennsylvania, and finally Connecticut were subsequently called for her. Polling had put Clinton ahead of Bernie Sanders in all states at stake tonight, but he pulled off one upset: Rhode Island was called for Sanders shortly after 9pm ET. He almost scored an upset win in Connecticut as well, taking more than 47% of the vote. Clinton's biggest win was in Maryland, where she took almost two-thirds of the vote.
USA Today reports that 384 pledged delegates are up for grabs on the Democratic side Tuesday night; all will be awarded proportionally, per usual. There's no chance of Clinton clinching the nomination tonight, but as the AP puts it, she's "on the cusp of closing down [Sanders'] remaining Democratic presidential hopes." As of Monday, Clinton had 82% of the delegates she needs: 1,942, including "superdelegates," with 2,383 required to win the Democratic nomination. That's a gap of 437. Sanders has 1,192 delegates.
