President Obama literally dropped the mic during an appearance on the Tonight Show Thursday, in which he slow-jammed the news and talked Trump, reports E! Asked if he thought Republicans were happy with the presumptive nominee, Obama replied that Democrats certainly are. "But the truth is I am actually worried about the Republican Party," he told Jimmy Fallon, per NBC News. "What's happened in that party culminating in this current nomination, I think is not actually good for the country as a whole … You want the Republican nominee to be somebody who could do the job if they win."
He went on to say that Hillary Clinton—whom he hadn't yet endorsed when the segment was filmed—is "whip smart" and "tough," and "a better candidate" thanks to her contest with Bernie Sanders. He added it's "healthy" for the Democratic Party to have a contested primary. "My hope is over the next couple weeks, we're able to pull things together." Later, during Fallon's popular "Thank You Notes" segment, Obama wrote, "Thank you, congress, for spending eight years wishing you could replace me with a Republican," as Trump's picture appeared on screen.
