After Trump's Tough Month, Clinton Opens Up a Big Lead

After a month plagued with what the Washington Post is calling "self-inflicted controversies," Donald Trump has taken a beating in that paper's latest poll, "foreshadowing that the November election could be a referendum on Trump more than anything else." Hillary Clinton—who in May's poll was trailing Trump 46% to 44%—now holds a commanding 51% to 39% lead over her rival. Other findings in the poll reflect voters' reservations about Trump. • Fifty-six percent say Trump doesn't stand for their beliefs

• One bright spot for Trump: Among those who want the country to take a different direction, 64% favor Trump, while 26% favor Clinton.
