Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, "the queen of Tejano music," will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame 22 years after her death. Selena, who was fatally shot at a Corpus Christi motel by the president of her fan club in 1995, will be honored with the star along with 33 other recipients in 2017. "The Committee looked carefully at each nominee and we feel that we have selected a great group of talent that will appeal to the tastes of many fans around the world," says the chair of the selection committee. BuzzFeed notes that the news was met with many excited reactions from emotional fans on Twitter. (A new Selena song was released last year.)
