US stocks shook off an early stumble and closed moderately higher, but bond yields remained near historic lows as investors remained cautious, the AP reports. Health care stocks had some of the biggest gains Wednesday, and energy stocks rose along with the price of crude oil. Celgene jumped 4% and Exxon Mobil increased 1%. European markets were broadly lower and the pound fell further against the dollar. The Dow Jones industrial average climbed 78 points, or 0.4%, to 17,918. The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 11 points, or 0.5%, to 2,099. The Nasdaq composite rose 36 points, or 0.8%, to 4,859. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note slipped to 1.37%, slightly above an all-time low of 1.32% it reached earlier in the day. (More Dow Jones stories.)
