Crime / weird crimes 'Creeper Ghost': 5 Craziest Crimes of the Week Including an unrepentant 90-year-old By Newser Editors, Newser Staff Posted Aug 5, 2016 5:38 AM CDT Updated Aug 5, 2016 8:48 AM CDT Copied 'Creeper Ghost': 5 Craziest Crimes of the Week Keep an eye on the top of the staircase. (YouTube/DNAInfo) Pokemon Go, a creepy intruder, and a political mess not involving Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump factor into this week's craziest crimes. Creeper Ghost' Stands Above Sleeping Couple: When Jordan Buranskas couldn't find her purse last week, boyfriend Jack Mackercher suggested they look at the footage from the surveillance camera in their Chicago home for a clue. They discovered that the purse had been stolen. And even worse, they saw that the apparent thief had stood above them on a loft for about 15 minutes as they slept on a couch below around 3am. Here's what it appears as though the intruder was watching. In Massachusetts, a Most Unusual Prostitution Arrest: When you're 90 years old, most people give you a pass to do certain things without question—eat what you want, nap all day, watch Columbo marathons, solicit prostitutes … well, maybe not that last one. At least not in Dennis Port, Mass., where a nonagenarian was arraigned Tuesday for allegedly doing just that. Nicholas Salerno's alleged interlude may have gone unnoticed by law enforcement, except for this weird twist. Parents Abandon Toddler to Catch Pokemon: Cops: When not falling off cliffs or making illegal border crossings, people are allegedly abandoning their kids in search of Pokemon. Arizona police say Brent Daley, 27, and Brianne Daley, 25, left their 2-year-old son home alone for at least 90 minutes on July 28 while playing Pokemon Go. Authorities say a neighbor called 911 when she found the boy outside his San Tan Valley home in 96-degree weather without any water. When police called Brent Daley to tell him what happened, Daley allegedly had a surprising one-word response. Retiree Arrested When Cops Mistake Food Item for Meth: "I recognized through my 11 years of training and experience as a law enforcement officer the substance to be some sort of narcotic," reads a police report by officer Shelby Riggs-Hopkins. Riggs-Hopkins must not have nearly as much experience with doughnuts. The Orlando officer pulled over 64-year-old retiree Daniel Rushing last December for minor traffic violations. That's when she spotted a "rock-like substance" she believed to be crystal meth on the floorboard of Rushing's car. It wasn't. Tennessee Lawmaker Allegedly Steals Rival's Signs: Think the presidential campaign is wacky? A primary campaign in Tennessee might be even wackier. Republican State Rep. Curry Todd was arrested Monday, accused of stealing his opponent's campaign signs from a property in Collierville. A staffer for rival Mark Lovell caught the alleged theft on video last month, though Todd says he had the permission of the property owner. When it came to have his bond posted, things got odd.
