Five people drowned at Camber Sands beach on the hottest day of the year in the UK, while the beach was packed, the BBC reports. Three men were pulled from the water Wednesday and two more were found dead on shore after the tide receded hours later. The five men, all in their late teens and early 20s, had come to the beach together from London, the Guardian reports. "It's pretty scary. I'm not sure how it happened," says one onlooker. There were early reports that the deaths were linked to jellyfish, but those have since been debunked; it's not clear why the men drowned. There were no lifeguards on the beach, the AP reports.
