New College Rankings Are Out

US News and World Report is out with its annual rankings of the nation's colleges, and Princeton reigns supreme for the sixth straight year. For that matter, Williams College is tops in the liberal arts category for the 14th straight year, and Berkeley among public universities for the 19th, notes the Washington Post. Here are the top 10 national universities:

  1. Princeton University
  2. Harvard University
  3. University of Chicago (tie)
  4. Yale University (tie)
  5. Columbia University (tie)
  6. Stanford University (tie)
  7. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  8. Duke University (tie)
  9. University of Pennsylvania (tie)
  10. Johns Hopkins University

  • Best liberal arts colleges, in order from 1 to 5: Williams, Amherst, Wellesley, Middlebury (tie), and Swarthmore (tie)
  • Best public universities, in order from 1 to 5: Berkley, UCLA (tie), University of Virginia (tie), University of Michigan, and the University of North Carolina
  • Best public liberal arts colleges, in order, from 1 to 5: US Naval Academy, US Military Academy, US Air Force Academy, Virginia Military Institute, and New College of Florida
