Cops: Bullet for 'Zombie' Nearly Kills Sleeping Man

A man in North St. Paul, Minn., woke to the sound of breaking glass early Saturday and soon discovered he was lucky to be alive: Police say a bullet tore through his window and ricocheted near the head of his bed. Officers soon found 24-year-old Ryan Stanislaw walking in the neighborhood with an AR-15, and he told them he fired at someone he thought was a zombie on the road, reports Fox 9. “I’m out here making sure my neighborhood is safe," he said, per the police complaint. "I didn’t see the cops so I figured I’d do something.” His gun was loaded with Hornady .223-caliber bullets, reports WCCO, which notes that the manufacturer jokes in the marketing of them that they're great for killing zombies.

“Each round is loaded with a special, neon green, polymer-tipped Z-Max bullet that delivers devastating expansion and was specifically designed for zombie elimination," reads the pitch. "You never know when the impending zombie apocalypse will begin, so make sure you’re prepared with extra magazines and bugout bags stuffed full of this effective zombie specific ammunition.” Stanislaw's mother tells police her son has no history of mental illness, though because of a conviction for unspecified terroristic threats last month, he was not supposed to have a firearm.
