With polls showing most Americans in favor of legalizing marijuana, voters in nine states will decide next month whether to eliminate or ease restrictions on pot, NBC News reports. The recreational use of pot is on the ballot in five states, while legal medical marijuana is on the ballot in four others. The measures have a good shot at passing, boosting supporters' hopes the feds will lift a nationwide ban. A Pew study last week revealed support for legalizing pot is rising, with 57% in favor and 37% against. Millennials—no surprise—were the largest group (71%) to support easing or removing legal barriers to toking up. A decade ago, only 32% of American surveyed supported legalization. Since Colorado and Washington state approved recreational pot use in 2014, 23 other states (as well as DC, Guam, and Puerto Rico) have eased their laws, per Pew.
