Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights legend, has been speaking out against Donald Trump, saying he won't attend the inauguration and telling NBC's Meet the Press that he doesn't "see this president-elect as a legitimate president." On Saturday morning, Trump hit back at the Georgia lawmaker in two tweets. "Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to ... mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!"
As Politico reports, many of Lewis's fellow lawmakers have come out swinging on Twitter to defend Lewis, who also recently testified against Trump's attorney general pick, Sen. Jeff Sessions. Even a Republican, Sen. Ben Sasse, who has spoken out against Trump before, spoke up in support of Lewis: "John Lewis and his 'talk' have changed the world," he tweeted in response to Trump's tweets.
