Even the Girl Scouts have been caught up in the controversy surrounding Donald Trump's inauguration. The group came under fire this week after announcing that around 75 members will be marching in Friday's inaugural parade. Boy Scouts will also be marching, but the Girl Scouts were criticized more heavily because of Trump's history of sexist remarks and groping accusations, NBC News reports. BuzzFeed reports that in an official statement released Wednesday and follow-up statements on social media, the organization said that it's a strictly nonpartisan group that has been taking part in inaugural events since 1917, that participation is strictly voluntary, and that some members will also be taking part in Saturday's Women's March. In other inauguration coverage:
- Reuters reports that the DisruptJ20 protest group has vowed to disrupt the inauguration by blocking entrances to the National Mall. "We believe that it's our role and the role of any people with conscience to try to disrupt this inauguration and have a massive showing of resistance on that day," organizer Samantha Miller told reporters.
