Dick Cheney has weighed in on the alleged Russian interference with the 2016 US presidential election: It could be considered "an act of war." The former VP, speaking Monday at the Economic Times' Global Business Summit 2017 in New Delhi, said, "There’s no question there was a very serious effort made by Mr. [Vladimir] Putin and his government, his organization, to interfere in major ways with our basic fundamental democratic processes. In some quarters, that would be considered an act of war." He added that he thinks such tactics will be seen with increasing frequency going forward.

Other lawmakers, including Sen. John McCain, have also called the alleged Russian interference an attack or an act of war, the Hill reports, but the US government does not specifically define what type of actions in cyberspace would call for a military response. (More Russia stories.)
