How did President Trump go from staunchly opposing any action in Syria to launching an airstrike in a matter of days? His son, Eric Trump, tells the Telegraph he's "sure" the decision has Ivanka Trump's fingerprints all over it. "Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence," he says. "I'm sure she said: 'Listen, this is horrible stuff.'" Eric Trump says "Ivanka is by [President Trump's] side in Washington" and isn't afraid to give him opinions that contradict those of his advisers. CNN calls the interview a "telling glimpse" into Ivanka Trump's role in the White House. It's possible her taking an official position in the administration could be the start of an increased influence on her father and a "move to the political middle."

Meanwhile, Rex Tillerson says Bashar al-Assad's time ruling Syria is "coming to an end," the New York Times reports. The secretary of state went on to say that if Russia continues to back the Syrian president, it could soon find itself on the outside looking in in the Middle East. The Times notes Tillerson's comments represent a pretty dramatic change from the Trump administration's position just last week and appear to be coming fairly close to the Syrian policy of the Obama administration. President Trump himself has yet to offer any sort of clarification on what exactly his administration's policy toward Syria and Assad is. (More Ivanka Trump stories.)
