A jury in Texas has stripped right-wing radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones of having primary custody of his children and awarded joint custody to his ex-wife, reports the AP. State District Judge Orlinda Naranjo also announced Kelly Jones will decide where their three children will live, reports the Austin American-Statesman. The Travis County jury deliberated for nine hours before returning its verdict late Thursday.
In closing arguments, Kelly Jones' attorney told jurors the radio personality is a "cult leader" who's turning their children against his ex-wife, who said she was thinking of writing a book about their situation. “He’s not a stable person,” Kelly Jones said in court. “He says he wants to break Alec Baldwin’s neck. He wants J-Lo to get raped." She said that because her ex-husband broadcasts from home, their three kids, ages 14, 12, and 9, are exposed to his rants. His attorney countered that he's "playing a character." Earlier, Alex Jones' attorney told the jury the children are thriving under Jones' care and he should remain the sole caregiver; the kids have lived with him since 2015.
