The good news is Allison Plusquellic chose to walk home, rather than drive, after a night of drinking in Lower Burrell, Pa., on Friday. The bad news, according to police, is the home she reached—and fell asleep in—wasn’t her own. Police say that after first failing to climb into the window of one home (where she left her purse), the 36-year-old woman managed to open and climb through a window at a second home about a mile away, per the Tribune-Review. Police say she was attempting to walk to a relative's house. Noticing the open window the next morning, 88-year-old homeowner Audrey Graff called police.
Graff says she initially found no evidence of a break-in. An hour later, however, she went upstairs and saw "somebody under the covers" in a bedroom, per WPXI. "Petrified," she says she then ran to her nephew's house, losing a shoe along the way. When police arrived and removed the woman, who was still asleep when they got there, "she said, 'I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you,'" Graff says. "I said, 'You nearly gave me a heart attack.'" Plusquellic, charged with burglary and two counts of breaking into a structure, later told a detective, "I must have been sleepwalking," police say. (More weird crimes stories.)
