In a disturbing case out of Venezuela, authorities say animals have been stolen from a zoo—to be used as food. "What we presume is that they (were taken) with the intention of eating them," a police official says, per the Guardian. The two collared peccaries that were stolen over the weekend from Zulia Metropolitan Zoological Park look similar to boars; other animals, including a buffalo that was cut into pieces, have also been stolen recently. The strange case illustrates the chronic food shortages and hunger plaguing Venezuela since its socialist economic model collapsed. (More strange stuff stories.)
