Even the biggest names in Hollywood went through that awkward pubescent stage—and now we have the proof. Celebrities including Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Judd Apatow have been sharing less-than-flattering photos of their awkward younger years on Twitter using the hashtag #PuberMe after Stephen Colbert vowed to donate $1,000 to hurricane relief in Puerto Rico for each celeb photo submitted. Colbert, who will donate through his Americone Dream Fund charity, got the ball rolling Thursday, though he claims he "never had" an awkward stage. "Here's me lookin' cool as hell," he wrote alongside a photo of a 13-year-old Colbert with braces, per the Independent.
Nick Kroll—who appeared on the Late Show Wednesday and has vowed to match each donation, per Mashable—quickly responded before others got involved. Patton Oswalt tweeted a photo of himself playing the saxophone, Busy Philipps showed off her crimped hair, and Jane Lynch touted her pig tails and glasses. Kumail Nanjiani also revealed a pretty stellar hairdo. In comparison, Kristin Chenoweth, Conan O’Brien, America Ferrera, James Corden, and Lena Dunham looked pretty fabulous, while Al Yankovic and Michael Bloomberg were among the more dapper.
