Cops: Guy Impersonates Officer for Coffee Discount

A guy who didn't want to pay full price for a cup of coffee struck upon an extraordinarily bad idea to remedy that, police say. Gary Stetter, 48, allegedly walked into a Buffalo Starbucks, flashed a fake badge and gun, falsely claimed to be a detective, and demanded a discount, reports WIVB. Then he walked across the street to another shop, Spot Coffee, and repeated the trick, even though it was technically already closed for the night, authorities say. It's not clear why employees got suspicious, but police soon arrested Stetter and charged him with impersonating an officer, menacing, and criminal trespassing. The weapon, it turned out, was a BB gun. (More weird crimes stories.)
