Police and family members are pleading for help finding the suspect or suspects behind a horrific quadruple murder in upstate New York. The four people found dead in a basement apartment have now been identified as Shanta Myers, 36; her 22-year-old partner Brandi Mells; and Myers' two children, 11-year-old Jeremiah and 5-year-old Shanise, the New York Daily News reports. Shakera Symes, Myers' sister, urged anyone with information to come forward so "that they can help find the person who has destroyed us, emotionally, mentally," the Times Union reports. "It feels like somebody has ripped us to shreds," she told reporters Thursday evening.

The four bodies were found in a basement apartment in Troy on Tuesday, and law enforcement sources say all four were tied up with their throats cut. "I don't think there's any doubt that a person who committed this crime is capable of anything," says Troy Police Chief John Tedesco. Police have not identified a suspect or a possible motive, though they say they do not believe the killings were random, the AP reports. Isaiah Smith, Myers' 15-year-old son, was away at the time of the killings and is now living with his aunt. "I'm scared to go to the corner store,” he tells the Times Union. "I’m not sure if they’re coming for me next." (More murder stories.)
