First Target had a problem with fidget spinners. Now it's taking heat for another item in its toy department, apologizing for a game that's designed to be offensive but looks to have crossed the line. TMZ reports the retailer is pulling an expansion pack for the popular game Cards Against Humanity off of its shelves after a customer spotted the "Chosen People Pack" at his local Target—a pack that contained anti-Semitic cards with some jaw-dropping inscriptions. "Despicable," tweeted Mike Lieber, posting pics of some of the cards inside the pack, which featured the remarks "Torturing Jews until they say they're not Jews anymore" and "Can't you see? The Jews are behind everything—the banks, the media, even________!," among others. There's also a card that makes a sexual reference to Anne Frank.
The Jerusalem Post notes the expansion pack has been around for a couple of years and that although Target is removing the "Chosen People Pack," there's an expansion set on the Cards Against Humanity website called the "Jew Pack" that has the same remarks written on its cards. Lieber noted on Twitter that Walmart was also selling the "Chosen People Pack," though it has since appeared to have taken that page down on its site. As for Target, its customer service Twitter account replied to Lieber's post, tweeting: "We are aware of this extended card pack of the game Cards Against Humanity and are in the process of removing it from our stores. We apologize for any disappointment as it is never our intention to offend our guests with the products we carry." (More Target stories.)
