A sad conclusion came Saturday morning to the most recent tragedy to hit the family of NYPD chokehold victim Eric Garner, with sources confirming his daughter, Erica Garner, has died, per the New York Daily News and Eyewitness News. The 27-year-old Garner, who was placed in a medically induced coma after family says she suffered an asthma-induced heart attack last Saturday, had been declared brain-dead earlier this week, with no hope of recovery.
"She passed away this morning. The reports are real. We didn't deserve her," her official Twitter account tweeted. "She was a warrior, she was a fighter, and we didn't pull the plug on her," Garner's mother, Esaw Snipes-Garner, said, per the Daily News. The Rev. Al Sharpton says Garner died at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, which is where Snipes-Garner says her daughter was born, the New York Post reports. (More Erica Garner stories.)
