Apple's new headquarters in Cupertino, California, has been widely celebrated by architectural critics, but some employees are reportedly encountering a downside: They keep walking into the interior glass walls. MarketWatch reports on at least two incidents in which men walked into a wall seriously enough to require a call to local emergency services. In both cases, only minor cuts to the head resulted. A report at Fortune echoes the one at MarketWatch, citing "repeated cases of distracted employees walking into the panes." An Apple spokesperson declined to comment.
The story at Fortune says employees resorted to sticking Post-It notes on glass walls to alert people to their presence, but the notes were removed because they didn't look so great aesthetically. Jokes may be easy to make, but MarketWatch notes that Apple could run into trouble with workplace safety regulations if the problem persists. It adds that because of construction delays on the $5 billion building, employees didn't start moving in until early this year. (If any legal action results, Apple lawyers should be familiar with how to respond thanks to this case.)
