Residents in St. George, Utah, probably won't be surprised to learn they're living in the fastest-growing metro area in America—the constant new housing and business construction is likely a giveaway, the Spectrum notes. The region took top honors based on the US Census Bureau's newly released figures comparing populations from 2016 to 2017, with 86% of the St. George area's newest members arriving from outside the Beehive State. That net domestic migration also influenced the growth in two other metro areas on the list: Greeley, Colo., and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Here, the top 10 and their percentage growths:
- St. George, Utah; 4% to 165,662
- Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach, SC and NC; 3.7% to 464,165
- Greeley, Colo.; 3.5% to 304,633
- Bend-Redmond, Ore.; 3.4% to 186,875
- Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; 2.9% to 157,637
- Lakeland-Winter Haven, Fla.; 2.9% to 686,483
- Boise City, Idaho; 2.8% to 709,845
- Provo-Orem, Utah; 2.7% to 617,675
- Austin-Round Rock, Texas; 2.7% to 2.1 million
- The Villages, Fla.; 2.5% to 125,165
