The gubernatorial campaign of actress and activist Cynthia Nixon learned a hard lesson about New York state geography when it misspelled the name of the city of Ithaca repeatedly in an email to supporters. "Cynthia is coming to Ithica!" read the subject line of the email, per the Democrat and Chronicle. It should have said "Ithaca." At another point, it said, "Will you sign up now to attend a candidate meet & greet in Ithica on Sunday evening, and learn how you can be involved?"
Nixon is challenging Gov. Andrew Cuomo in this year's Democratic primary. A Cuomo campaign aide ridiculed the mistake, tweeting that while Nixon's Sex and the City character may have never left Manhattan, someone auditioning for governor should be able to hire better writers, reports the AP. A Nixon spokeswoman says the email was sent in error and made light of the mistake. She emailed reporters a photo of a campaign worker writing "Ithaca" correctly several times on a dry erase board.
