George Clooney is "fine" but recovering after he was hit by a car in Sardinia on Tuesday. Clooney had departed his Costa Corallina hotel on what's variously described as a motorbike or scooter when he was hit by a car around 8:15am local time. Per CNN, Clooney—who's on the island to film Catch-22, a six-part miniseries based on the book by Joseph Heller, per the BBC—flew into the air over the handlebars of his motorbike and right over a Mercedes that reportedly turned right in front of him; sources tell TMZ he was hurled about 20 feet. His helmet, which broke during the crash, is said to have smashed the Mercedes' windshield.
A photo of the scene showed a black scooter near a fire extinguisher, with a blue car facing in the opposite direction, per Sky News, which reports the 57-year-old star was taken to a hospital by ambulance but suffered only minor injuries to his knee, and possibly pelvis, along with bruises. Clooney has since been released and will resume filming in a couple of days, per CNN. It's not clear whether he'll consider traveling on four wheels from now on, however, having previously suffered a broken rib in a motorbike accident in New York in 2007. (More George Clooney stories.)
