"I had sex with him and it felt weird." So reads an alleged Asia Argento text that, if true, contradicts her claim that she never slept with an underage actor/musician in 2013. The #MeToo story took a turn Wednesday when TMZ posted text messages "between Argento and one of her friends" about the Italian actress' alleged encounter with Jimmy Bennett at a Ritz-Carlton in Southern California when he was 17 and she was 37. The age of consent in California is 18. "I didn't know he was a minor until the shakedown letter," the text continues. "... The horny kid jumped me." According to leaked documents, Bennett planned to sue her for emotional distress and lost wages, and she paid him $380,000.
TMZ also posted a topless selfie of the pair snuggling and a purported love letter from Bennett to Argento on Ritz-Carlton stationery. Bennett "kept sending me unsolicited nudes all these years up until 2 weeks before the attorneys [sic] letter," reads a text. "I wasn't raped but I was frozen. He was on top of me." Meanwhile, Bennett has issued a statement saying he was too "afraid and ashamed" to say anything after the story broke, the New York Times reports. "I didn't think that people would understand the event that took place from the eyes of a teenage boy." With the LA County Sheriff's Department investigating, an apparent Argento text says "if I lose my job I will move to Africa or the Amazon forest." (A Rose McGowan tweet urging people to "be gentle" with Argento has drawn sharp criticism.)
