Tourists Behaving Badly: 2 Crazy Examples

Both men have lived to tell the tale, but two separate incidents involving tourists defying common sense in different parts of the world are making the rounds:

  • Yellowstone: The geysers at Yellowstone National Park are off-limits for the simple reason that the water in them can boil you alive. And yet, this tourist crossed the trail barricades and was caught on video using the hot springs for a foot spa, reports SF Gate. Luckily, he kept his balance, and no untimely eruptions did him in. He avoided arrest, unlike this guy.
  • Crocodile: This stunt is even crazier. A self-anointed Danish adventurer named Niels Jensen was filmed luring a huge crocodile with a dead wallaby in Australia, then getting on the croc's back. The Northern Territory Department of Tourism and Culture is investigating, and that includes Jensen's use of the wallaby, which is a protected species, reports Australia's ABC. "Heavy penalties can apply," says the department, which adds the most unnecessary warning ever: "Saltwater crocodiles are large and potentially dangerous animals."
