The position will soon be vacant and her father thinks she'd do a great job—but Ivanka Trump has confirmed that she will not be America's next ambassador to the United Nations. "It is an honor to serve in the White House alongside so many great colleagues and I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley," she tweeted Tuesday. "That replacement will not be me." Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were rumored to be possible replacements after Nikki Haley's surprise resignation. President Trump said his daughter, who serves as a White House adviser, would do an "incredible job," but he'd be "accused of nepotism," Bloomberg reports.
"I'm not sure there's anybody more competent" than his daughter, Trump said, though he later told reporters that he is looking at five candidates and will probably name a replacement in two to three weeks, the AP reports. Sources tell Politico that former deputy national security adviser Dina Powell, who left the administration earlier this year to work for Goldman Sachs, is the frontrunner, but it's not clear whether she wants the job. The sources say the White House has already been in touch with Powell and she has said she needs time to decide. Other names in the frame include US ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell, the preferred choice of some conservatives, and Kelly Craft, the US ambassador to Canada. (More Nikki Haley stories.)
