Cleveland.com is reeling after "popular" culture reporter Nikki Delamotte was found shot dead in what's being investigated as a suspected homicide. Perrysburg Township police say the 30-year-old and her uncle, Robert Delamotte, 67, were found dead in his trailer, and Cleveland.com reports she was there after recently reuniting with him. Nikki's mother tells the paper her daughter didn't see much of her ex-husband's family following their divorce some time ago, but the recent death of Nikki's maternal grandmother prodded her to reach out.
JoAnne Ullman says Nikki reconnected with her uncle in Perrysburg Township in October and the two made plans to watch Sunday's Miami Dolphins vs. Green Bay Packers game together at a bar. Nikki didn't reply to a text Ullman sent her at 10:30pm and she didn't return to Cleveland Sunday night. A friend messaged Ullman early Monday to alert her to Nikki's absence, and Ullman met police at the trailer. The bodies were found inside. Nikki's car was outside, her phone and wallet still in it. WKYC rounds up social media tributes to Nikki here. Cleveland.com describes Nikki as a "reporter whose passionate storytelling and kindness left an indelible mark on her community and newsroom."
