"While there is no such thing as the perfect city, the United States is full of places with few, if any, strengths." That's according to 24/7 Wall St., at which a few California cities can now direct their ire. The website identified the 50 worst American cities to live in based on 25 metrics in four categories: affordability, economy, quality of life, and community. In the end, all 50 cities fell below the 30.9% national average for the share of adults with a bachelor's degree. The worst 10 cities to call home:

  1. Mendota, Calif.
  2. Florida City, Fla.
  3. California City, Calif.
  4. Makaha, Hawaii
  5. Highland Park, Mich.
  6. Bessemer, Ala.
  7. Bastrop, La.
  8. Waianae, Hawaii
  9. Anniston, Ala.
  10. Avenal, Calif.
